There are times when the Alzheimer's caregiver needs a break. If possible, getting out is recommended. But when it's not, the Internet gives an alternative. When the Alzheimer's patient is napping or enjoying a video like one of those from Video Respite, the caregiver can still sit closely by, watching, and at the same time meet new people all over the world, visiting their "homes" on the Internet. I want to share the best ones I've found with you, wonderful homepages that are full of music, art, or animations, and that will let you get to know some pretty special people as they share their talents with you. Enjoy...

(You might want to turn the volume down on your speakers so you won't disturb your patient. Also, these pages are graphic-intensive and may sometimes be a bit slow in loading, but they are well worth the wait.)

Old Jim's What a site full of animations!--even some that are full-screen. Be sure to see the "Message from da boys in da band" as well as his Christmas pages. The little horse near the top of this page came from Old Jim's Place.
Poems, Pleasures, and Promises The Rhymster, E. Fay Dyer-Austin, shares poetry, sunflowers, and photos of Paris at this wonderful site which has become the most awarded sites on the Web, receiving close to 300 awards, topping the list at The Most Awards Earned by a Personal Home Page

At first I didn't think I could do a page like this, when my homepage is about a terrible disease like Alzheimer's as well as a memorial to my mother. Then I started needing a break from working on it, and these pages provided that. I decided caregivers need something like this, too. My mother would have liked this, I think. Yes, I think she would approve.
